NINES League Launch: A New 9v9 Platform Built for What Comes Next

The Development Player League is proud to announce the launch of NINES, a standalone 9v9 league platform designed specifically for U11 and U12 teams.

Built inside the DPL ecosystem, NINES gives the 9v9 game what it deserves: more structure, more standards, and more opportunity. It creates a dedicated competition platform with meaningful games, professional administration, and a player-first model designed to support the next stage of development.

A Platform Built for Teams

NINES is open to eligible teams regardless of club-vs-club league affiliation. It lives inside the DPL ecosystem, but is not attached to GA Aspire or GA.

That independence matters.

For DPL and DPL OPEN clubs, NINES creates a way to showcase younger team depth and build the foundation for what comes next. For outside teams, it provides access to a higher-standard 9v9 platform that is organized, competitive, and professionally managed.

This is a league built for teams, open to opportunity.

Front 9 + Back 9

NINES will feature two connected competition windows:

Fall Season: Front 9
Spring Season: Back 9

Conferences may offer one or both seasons based on local needs and team interest. Clubs may enter U11, U12, or both, with multiple teams allowed per age group.

The model is flexible, but the purpose is clear: create meaningful 9v9 games that help players and teams grow.

Fast. Fearless. Fluid.

Every NINES match will feature:

3 x 20-minute periods
5-minute breaks between periods
Scores kept
Standings created
Champions and finalists recognized with trophies and medals

This format gives the game a different rhythm. It keeps players involved, supports smarter rotation, and creates a stronger connection between competition and development.

NINES is designed to be Fast. Fearless. Fluid.

Fast because players are constantly active.
Fearless because the game encourages confidence and decision-making.
Fluid because 9v9 creates more space, movement, and connection.

The Playing Time Provision

At the heart of NINES is the Playing Time Provision.

Each eligible rostered player must play one full, continuous 20-minute period in every match.

This standard gives every athlete a real opportunity to settle into the game, make decisions, build confidence, and impact her team. Development cannot happen from the sideline. NINES protects that belief by building meaningful playing time directly into the competition model.

Meaningful Games, Built Locally

NINES competition will be built through home and away league play. Where numbers allow, teams will be bracketed by level to create balanced and valuable games.

The goal is not just more games.

The goal is better games.

Games that matter. Games that challenge players. Games that give coaches useful development moments. Games that help teams prepare for the next stage.

Professionally Managed. Clearly Structured.

NINES will include full operational support, administrative league assistance, GotSport system support, scheduling, awards, certificates of insurance, pass cards, and sanctioning inclusions.

The cost structure is simple:

Front 9: $350 per team
Back 9: $350 per team
Players: $50 per player
Bond: $500 per club, one time only per season

Game day standards will be shared separately. Trainers and video are preferred, but not mandatory.

Why NINES Matters

The U11 and U12 years are too important to be treated as an afterthought. This is where players build confidence, develop habits, improve decision-making, and prepare for the demands of the full-sided game.

NINES gives this stage a true platform.

It gives clubs structure.
It gives teams better competition.
It gives players meaningful opportunity.
It gives the 9v9 game the standard it deserves.

Nine Players. One Force.

NINES is here. Fast. Fearless. Fluid.
